"Healing the Wound" by Giulia Casalini
In Healing the Wound, Giulia Casalini reviews the VIII VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK: DigiLabAir | Emergencies of the Contemporary (13-15 December 2023, Palazzo Mora, Venice) with a poetic writing piece that is inspired by the performances and video art installations that were part of the programme. Giulia’s writing has emerged from an embodied writing practice that engages with the works through movement, touch, smell and automatic writing in states of semi-trance. The notes at the end of the text speak in a more descriptive manner about the performances and videos that she experienced those days.
Giulia Casalini's practice spans across curating, performance, writing and research. Her (eco)transfeminist and queer activism has the scope of creating and bridging communities across the globe through the arts and natureculture. She has recently completed her PhD research, exploring queer-trans-feminist performance art from transnational and anti-colonial perspectives.
