Lives and works in Boston, MA (US). Marilyn Arsem has been creating live events since 1975, from solo gallery performances to large-scale, site-specific works at festivals, conferences, alternative spaces, galleries, museums and universities in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Most recently she has focused on creating site-specific performances that are not planned in advance, but made in response to a location that is selected on arrival. She is a member and founder of Mobius, Inc., a Boston-based collaborative of interdisciplinary artists. She taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for 27 years, establishing one of the most extensive programs internationally in visually-based performance art.

At the VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK 2014, Arsem presents the long-durational performance Marking Time, meditations on time, on what is needed to move forward through time, on moving through one’s life. She further presents together with the Boston-based Mobius Inc. a selection of three decades of performance art photographed by Bob Raymond of the Mobius Artists Group, under the title this moment: missives from another world.
