Born 1958 in Antwerp (Belgium). Multidisciplinary artist, playwright, stage director, choreographer and designer, Jan Fabre is well known both at home and abroad as one of the most innovative and versatile artists of his day. He's renowned for expanding the horizons of every genre to which he applies his artistic vision. Troubleyn/Jan Fabre is a theatre company with extensive international operations. Fabre has been its artistic head since it was established in 1986. 

At the VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK, Jan Fabre presents the video installation Virgin/WarriorThis joint work by Jan Fabre and Marina Abramović was performed at Palais de Tokio in Paris in 2004. In the episodic cycle the artists were enclosed in a glass cage for 4 hours, dressed in armours. They performed archetypical tasks they imposed on themselves, thus telling a story of violence, sacrifice and forgiveness with their bodies.
